Workshops

Juice from Juice workshops take place on Caltech’s campus 2 times per year: Oct 15, 2016, and Feb 4, 2017

To sign up for a workshop please fill out this survey.

The workshops run from 10am-2pm and cover all the modules in the Juice from Juice program. Upon completion of the workshop, you will receive a certificate verifying that you have completed 4 hours of professional development. You will also be eligible* to sign-up for a visit to your classroom from our Caltech scientists to implement a lesson with your class for the first time. Many teachers find this visit helpful for planning logistics and anticipating questions from the students. (*Classroom visits limited to schools within 20 min from Caltech).

Two weeks before the workshop date you will receive an email confirming your reservation and providing more details about the program. Workshop Agenda

10:00 – 10:45   General overview of the science of solar energy, including background in physics, chemistry and biology

10:45 – 12:00    Hands-on experience making your own dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC)

12:00 – 12:45    Free lunch with the researchers

12:45 – 1:45   Rotation through associated labs for light, electrochemistry and water-splitting

1:45 – 2:00   Wrap-up and scheduling for visit to your school campus
